The Little Things..

The month of May is synonymous with "crazy busy" in the greenhouse world.  Between loading the truck for another delivery and keeping all of our flowers happy, there's rarely a dull moment here on the farm!  But in the middle of our chaos, it's the little things bring the most delight.

Here's a handful of our "Little Things":

The teeny- tiny flowers of the Talinum Limon.

Every day this little guy manages to grow taller!

Who comes up with plant names?  This one with the funky red stem goes by "Chicken Gizzard"!

Hot orange flowers making an appearance on the Senicio vine.

As always, thanks for checking us out!

Introducing... the Coir Pot!

Plant-able pots have been popping up all over the place these past few years, claiming to dissolve into the dirt after just one season.  It seems almost too good to be true!  In our experience, it has been to good to be true- so far...

Our continuing quest to find the solution to plastic pots has led us to the "Coir" pot.  Take a close look, and you can see that this little guy is made up of coconut fibers and molded into an exact replica of its plastic counterpart:

Pretty neat, right?  For the trial run we've planted up all sorts of veggies in the Coir pots.  This spring is the first time we've offered anything like this in a retail setting and we're so excited to share our "experiment" with all of you- we can't wait to see how the Coir pots perform!

Check your mailbox!

Our postcards have been posted!  Check out that gorgeous Persian Shield- the details of its foliage are simply stunning.  Does it deserve to be front and center on our postcard or what!?

Of course, we love seeing new faces- if you're not on the mailing list, you're certainly welcome to drop by this spring!

A Work in Progress...

It's amazing how full the greenhouses feel once the hanging baskets are up in the air!

Miriam spent some time with the cone baskets this week- attaching their hangers, filling them with soil, hanging them off the tables.  And what was the reward for her hard work?  Being assigned the task of designing and planting them up with her beautiful, original combinations, of course!

Transitions

The new blooms of spring annuals are such a beautiful contrast to the outside snow!
